Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake

Need…

Bunt cake pan

1 box of Devil’s food cake mix

1 box of chocolate pudding mix (3.5 oz)

1 C of sour cream

1 C of milk

1/2 C of olive oil

1/2 C of water

4 eggs

2 C of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 C powdered sugar

For chocolate glaze (do not prepare ahead of time)

1 stick of butter

1 1/2 C of semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Preheat oven to 350 and grease bunt cake pan
  • Combine cake and pudding mix (don’t make the pudding, just add the mix!), with sour cream, oil, water, eggs and milk.
  • Pour batter into bunt cake pan and bake for 40-50 minutes (a tad longer if you have a gas stove)
  • Cool for 10 minutes IN pan and then slowly turn pan over onto the cake pedastal or sheet (you don’t want to move it again after you remove it from the pan or it will break)…be gentle when you turn it over.  Use a knife to loosen edges if necessary
  • While it continues to cool, melt butter and chocolate chips together in double broiler on medium heat.  Stir continuously until chocolate becomes smooth and runny (if not getting thin enough, add more butter)
  • When thin, pour glaze all over the cake–meant to be a glaze not an icing.
  • Sprinkle powdered sugar as desired over top.
  • Other decorating ideas: Add strawberries or raspberries around cake perimeter.
